Sessions: The Love Edition.

On monday the 13th of February we have a second edition of the Hit event Sessions. This edition is focusing of the Love of God. Love hangs in the air in the month of February so we knew that we had to mark it by celebrating the definition of Love- God.

We will update you on the amazing time we had on the 8th of December @ dfusion bar leeds.

We had a line up of amazing talent that night. We ourselves were in awe of what Leeds had to offer. There were ministrations in the form of dance, drama, music, poetry and of course a live band.

We kicked off the show with prayer by Pastor Paul

The band was awesome, and kept us grooving the whole night.

Ayo Mog did an awesome job at hosting the show.

Our very own talented poets; John, Ogechi,Tasha and Emmanuella blessed us with amazing Pieces.

Daniel, Mirabel and Wesley singing.

David Performed one of his great rap songs for us.

And John blew us away with His rendition of 'You are God alone' on the sax.

Abi, John, Fiona, Moji and Evelyn collaborated to bless us

We had awesome talent during the open mic, where people sang, rapped and played instruments

The audience were the most interactive and amazing audience we could ask for.

God has already done all that needs to be done.

This is why our prayers do not move God or prompt a response from God, except it was already in His plan- answered prayers are those that He already destined to happen.

Our prayers don't open doors, they lift us into the realm where we see that doors have been opened all along.

Our praise and worship just lift us to the realm where things have already been done.

We think we are doing for God, but it is for our own benefit.

God Alone

God is solitary in His Existence and majesty.
God is Peerless in His Perfection
God is unique in His Perfection
God sustains everything but independent of All.
God gives to all but is enriched by none.

Exodus 15:11-16
Who is like unto you oh God?
None.

God is just awesome, words cannot describe or summarise Him. This post is not enough to do Him any justice and even though it is intended to exalt Him, it is nothing compared to who He actually is.

We can try but we can not begin to imagine how God came about, where He came from, even who He really is beyond our imagination. Gen 1:1- even before the world was created He was already here, since the beginning of Time He existed, even time cannot limit God, Time is subject to God and so we can not really bound Him by time.
All through time He will always remain the same, before time even came into existence He was still God and will remain God even when time expires- Hebrews 13:8.

It is then clear that if God was God before man or creation came into existence and will remain the same as He was even before then- God does not need creation to be God and remain God.

Before Heaven was formed God was God, so why do we limit God to heaven?
Before we could worship, God was God, so why do we think that God requires our worship to be God or magnified? Neh 9:5... He is exalted above everything whether we give Him praise or not
Before churches or tabernacles came into existence God was still God, why do we think that going to church keeps God sweet?

These questions could go on forever because we are so wrapped up in our selves that we forget we are in the presence of Majesty. Nothing we do improves God, even Christ said that His dying does not improve God- Psalm 16:2.

So why does all things happen if God is still God regardless? For the pleasure of God, they are not necessities but pleasures to God.

Why are we here then, or why do we have to do all we do? For our own benefit and so that we may fear God and His Majesty(Is 33:6-10, Eccles 3:14, Psalm 19:9)

Everything we have been doing up till now is a waste if it doesn't reflect your fear for God.

So how do we receive the fear of God? .

Receive the word of God with Respect
Be submissive to His words
Be prayerful to know Him
Search to know Him.

The conclusion of the matter is Fear the Lord for He is God alone.

Links fellowship is the place to be every Wednesday; we at C3 come together to have a wonderful time at our various house fellowships.
We study the word together, praise and worship God, share our testimonies and play games. We then wrap things up by having dinner together.

If you are to remain in the Kingdom of God you must speak His Language.

We as men have 3 different languages according to our 3 different parts; mind, physical and mental

Our mental language is our beliefs
Our mind language is our thoughts
Our physical language is our words.

It is very important that those three language become the same, if not there is a limitation.

Acquaint all three languages with the language of God. You will be just fine.

The language Of God

Language is a form of communication and system common to the people of a community.

Gen 11:1-9
This is the story of the Tower of Babel. The people were building a tower that they wanted to reach heaven. They spoke the same language and understood each other perfectly meaning that they were working together towards their goal. God knew that provided that they had an understanding of each other nothing could stop them and so He changed their language. They did not lose their zeal towards their goal but they lost their language and the ability to understand each other and so they had to go their separate ways.

Identity is always lost in loss of language;if you claim to be an English man but you cannot speak English, even though you may have been born English you lose your sense of belonging when you don't understand the language or systems of England.

We as man were made to belong to God(of His kingdom), to have an identity in God and so a person of God understands His language and systems. But since the beginning, man started losing their identity when they chose to start following systems that were not of God.
These days people hardly speak the language of God but speak and conform to the language of this world and the same way God was committed to breaking the language the people of Babel were speaking, He is still committed to breaking the foreign languages we have adopted.

His commitment follows through when He sends messages to the world to keep us on track, when He sent His son Jesus Christ into the world to save us from the ways of the world and when He left the Holy spirit for us.

We regain our identity in the kingdom of God when we allow Jesus to be born in us by accepting Him as our lord and saviour and also allowing the Holy spirit to live in us( John 20:22)

After we have accepted Jesus and received the Holy spirit that He left unto us, we are now saved to be representatives of His Kingdom, however we have to be able to change our language to His that we may fully represent this kingdom.
Luke 24:49- The disciples where compelled to wait for the Language of the spirit of God before they could go out and represent the kingdom of God, and then on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) their language changed.
With a change of language comes a reception of Power(Acts 1:7-12), because you now understand and operate under the system of the kingdom you are able to make things happen. In ordinary terms, if you become a citizen of the UK, but cannot speak English or don't understand the systems of England, you cant really make things happen without getting help.
After Peter and the disciples changed their language, they could boldly go out and proclaim that Jesus is Lord(Acts 4:18-31).

It is very important that we know the Language of God so we can exercise our rights and power as citizens of His Kingdom. Even though there is room for speaking in tongues, in this case the Language of God has a lot to do with His word. Evidence of being of His Kingdom is the boldness to declare the word of God.

We have adopted too many languages we lost the Language of where we actually come from... The kingdom of God.

Turning On the lights In Leeds

It is fair to say Merry Christmas everyone after all the Christmas build up started at the beginning of November.

Christmas is such a big deal everywhere including our very own Leeds. Two weeks ago, a couple of us struggled to make it to choir practice because the Christmas lights were being switched on. There were so many people there, loads of rides, street merchants and also a stage where local celebrities were sing and performing including last year's winner of the x factor.

One thing was missing though, the reason for the season Jesus Christ. As they switched on electrical lights, they needed one thing; The Light of the world... John 12:46.

We at C3 make it a mission to live by the scriptures Mark16:15, and so we will be going into town on Saturday to relight the town with the one who is able to keep darkness away forever. We in our selves are cities set on a Hill that cannot be hidden and so we would not camouflage into Leeds without getting involved.

Watch out for these faces and many more on Saturday.

This Christmas is going to be exciting as we have a couple of Christmas events and most of them include us taking the Good news into the world.The events include

Street evangelising and singing Christmas Carols on Saturday the 26Th of November at 3pm.
Sessions: the Christmas editions- on the 8th of December we are hosting our event to Dfusion bar, this spectacular night will consist of music, poetry, dance, a live band, raffle draw etc..

Love- The Commandment

Christmas is fast approaching. We aregetting ready to celebrate the birth of the Messiah, our saviour. Let’s takeour time for a moment to just imagine the day before Jesus was born into thisearth, or what we will now mark as Christmas Eve. We will normally wrap gifts,get last minute shopping done and deliver our final gifts and cards and maybe goto church. Have you ever thought what heaven was like on that day, what wasactually going on in heaven the day before Jesus was born unto us?

Jesus got off his throne perhaps, put offhis robe, crown, put aside his deity and entered a foetus. He wasn’t going to anotherpalace; he was going into a womb. This is an ultimate expression of God’s lovefor us that He will give up his throne to come to somewhere in no waycomparative to what he was used to. This is the greatest form of love

Why is it so easy for God to Love us somuch?

Because we were created in His image and sowhen God sees us He sees Himself. God still sees Himself in us, and even thoughwe changed our image never changed. The devil came to tempt the woman and man,to change their perception of themselves, but did not change their image (Gen3:1-7). And so now and forevermore, even if we realise it or not our image willstill be that of God. He will always love us because in us, there is Him.

If we are the image of God, we have to lovegod because when we see ourselves we must see God and so also when we seeothers we must see God. All we need to survive and live a perfect life is loveGod, which may mean everything from loving others to surrendering ourselves toGod. In the Old Testament God introduced so many rules to help us love Him andin turn one another but Human beings found it so hard and just couldn’t stopourselves from breaking these rules. Jesus came to simplify it in the NewTestament and told us what to do:

Mark 12:28-31- Love commandments.

We have assumed love to be an emotion whenin actual fact love is a commandment. We pick and choose who we can love, whywe want to love and who deserves our love even to the extent that sometimes Goddoesn’t even make the cut. But loving everybody is not a choice we get to make;loving people because they love you does not count. Luke6:32-33. That is loveruled by emotions, loving those who have done you wrong is keeping to thecommandment.

If God could still love Humans even afterall they have done enough to send His son, why can’t we love those who havewronged us.

How does God love everybody the same, righteous or unrighteous,holy or sinful? Because God sees Himself in every man.

How do you love your enemy?

By seeing themby not what they are doing but by whom they are. The prostitute was brought tothe presence of Jesus to be stoned; He did not condemn her for what she had butgave her a chance because he saw her image: the image of God.

When Jesus was being crucified, he said: “Fatherforgive them for they do not know what they do”, perhaps if they had known whoHe was by image, they would not have killed him, if they had seen past theirhatred and seen that He was created in the image of God they would have sparedHis life.

In the church today, we have created a sectand we only find it easier to love just Christians. We judge others for whatthey do and we do not want to associate with unbelievers. We should startloving them because it is a commandment from God. Until then you do not evenlove yourself because you are playing with the wrath of God. If He could loveyou even in sin you can love everybody.

Love is not a feeling, it is a commandment, averb and a state because you still have to do it even when you don’t feel likeit.

Matt 4 17-22

John1: 1-15

Jesus approached His disciples with an opportunity of a lifetime promising He will make them fishers of men and immediately they dropped everything and followed him. He performed many miracles and lived life with these men for three years. One day, He washaving dinner with his disciples and He told them He was leaving them soonand there Peter professed that even in His absence, He will never deny Him. AndJesus was eventually crucified and left them by themselves.

Have you ever been in the absence of Jesus? Do you ever feel abandoned by Christ?

Why does Jesus leave us alone on our own sometimes?

To test what was within. Your faith,love and commitment to something is really tested in the absence of the object. That appliesto everything e.g. In a relationship, the commitment to your partner isreally tested in the absence of the person. We are committed in church but our lives out of church is the true test of our commitment to the things of God.

Adversity introduces a man to who he reallyis. When everything is good and we can feel the hand of God supporting us it is easy to remain the person God expects us to be, butwhen adversity comes, the real you introduces him or herself, making adversitythe best place God could evaluate us.

Are your testimonies of God still the same evenwhen you go through adversity? Job is a great example, He said; 'Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.' The disciples of Jesus were the opposite, even though they had spent 3 years with Jesus, but after leaving them for three days their testimonychanged.

Jesus’ absence is like a palette ball. Thisball is a round ball for exercise. You balance yourself on the ball and it worksmuscles that have never been worked or are not worked under circumstances. The momentswe feel Jesus is not showing His face to us are moments where he is helping us exercisemuscles of our faith that has never been used in a quest to keep our faith asstrong and as fit as possible.

In times of adversities what should you dorather than reacting by changing your commitment to God?

Adapt the strategies of a smart boxer in a ringwho has just been beaten down by His opponent. The referee is counting to ten,the fans are raging to see if he will stand up again. He stays down till thecount of 7, 8,9, before getting up. He spent some time down there to strategise and regain hisstamina rather than rush up to be beat down again. He did not give up neitherdid He rush to any quick decision that will cause any harm. So reflect on whatyou are going through and come back up and out of the adversity to regain carry on your relationship with Christ

Peter and the rest of disciples did notcome out of adversity to Christ, they returned to their old ways. They failed the test of love and commitment. They lost theplot and did not even recognise him. They were so far off that they werewilling to follow anybody. Jesus told them to cast their nets, even though theydid not recognise him, they were willing to throw their net to just anybody’scommand. In God’s test of our faith, do we abandon Him and forget Him to theextent where anything or god goes? We deny God in times of adversitiesof trial, and when we comes back to us we are found naked and have fallen short ofHis glory.

Start questioning yourself from now, Lovestthou God, than the things He offers you? more than miracles, more than life,more than your job, more than your family, more than fame, more than everythingelse in life? Let your answer be yes, because if not, when he hides from you will not be able to stay committed to him. .

The Place For Work

What are your dreams, plans, what are you capable of doing, what is written down in your book as a to do list? what is hindering you from accomplishing these things?

Jer 1:4-7: Before God Began with you He had finishedit already. You were born what God has ordained you to be who you are meant tobe.When you start out to do things, make surethat in your mind you have finished it. That way you can arrive at your goalseasily. You are aware of what the finished product looks like so you can drivetowards it.

But don't just write it down and finish it in your mind, everyone has dream and want to accomplish thosedreams and even though they might be finished in our mind but only few dreams are made reality and this only happens whenwe put hard work into it.

We are judged by what we do not our dreams.We are remembered for our deeds and not our dreams.

There is no need for laziness as the fruitof laziness could always be better as hard work could sweeten it.

Luke 6: 46-50

What is the difference between the two men?One worked and the other did not and so the foundation of the house was basedon the doing. Everything we accomplish in life is on the foundation of ourdoing.

We always have many ideas and any time we seewhat we thought we could do done by something else it hurts,but we are not in that person shoes because we did not do. We shouldn't just be big thinkers but big doers.

James 1:22-24: we are not supposed to bejust hearers or speakers or dreamers but be doers. We deceive ourselves when wedo not take action on hearings, saying or dreams. We hear a lot of goodmessages but nothing happens until we started putting them into practice. It is afoolish action to hear, speak or dream without putting in work, theprevious action was simply a waste of time.

Laziness is the greatest hindrance andsometime we confuse faith for laziness. We always say it is well when there isroom to apply work e.g. we are looking for jobs but we can’t expect to find ajob until we start applying. We cannot replace the place for action with thesentiment that the job will fall in our laps, that is not faith.

Being excellent requires focus but also hardwork, set your sights on what you want to do and apply work.

The place for work in the scripture

James 2:17: Faith without work is dead

Hebrews 11:6. Yes without faith it isimpossible to please God, but work actualises faith.

The place for work in a story.

Michael Angelo was a sculptor. He wasaround at the time where he was when another artist Raphael was at the peak ofHis career. Raphael was in a quest to show that he was better than Michael Angelo.He convinced the pope to give Michael Angelo the task to do paintings on thechapel, to prove that Michael Angelo was not the best artist. The pope summoned MichaelAngelo with a task to create a tomb for Him but when he got there He alsodecided to test His ability by commissioning him to paint the 12 disciples on theceiling. Michael was committed and did not just back down, he was in competitionwith Himself to be the best he could be and set to work for three whole years. Hedid not just paint what He hadbeen assigned to but ended up painting 300 larger than life murals; the Downfall of Man and the Promise of Salvation through the prophets andGenealogy of Christ, nine episodes from the Book of Genesis, divided intothree groups: God's Creation of the Earth; God's Creation of Humankind andtheir fall from God's grace; and lastly, the state of Humanity as representedby Noah and his family. He even moved from the ceiling to the pendentivessupporting the ceiling and painted twelve men and women who prophesied thecoming of the Jesus.

He was a person with an excellent spirit,He was the best and achieved the best by setting Himself the goal to achieveHis best, but he did not just dream of what could have been. He got to work andcreated a work that made him a genius. To others he is a genius but to himselfjust a hard worker.

In your pursuit For excellence; Just Doit!!

IN THE PURSUIT OF EXCELLENCE

When God created the world, He created the heavens and theearth and said it was good (Gen 1:31). In fact it was Excellent, He was just being modest.

Can we look back on all we do and call it excellent?

What is excellent? Utmost quality, High class, incomparable,perfect, distinction.

A person of excellence always strives to be the best andkeep going till they reach perfection like God, He did not rest till he madethe most perfect creature and finished the world. God was progressive in His thinking while created. Everything He built needed the next thing to give it purpose, and He ended in creating a perfect man that will tend to and make use of all that He had done.
We are made in His image and in us is instilled the ability to be excellent and must keep striving to attain the state of Excellence.

Tips to being an excellent person:

· A person of excellence never procrastinate, theywork immediately to do what needs to be done. They take the opportunity to succeed at the first attempt. Why? They realise that the enemy is at hisweakest point first attempt, so they are ready to meet attack and kill every time they go to war, because the enemy youmeet today, when you fight tomorrow will be stronger and more ready to beat you.
· A person of excellence realises that today’s excellenceis tomorrow’s mediocrity. Not everything we do is perfect but everything shouldbe progressive.
· A person of excellence does not dwell with merepeople but kings, in a struggle to be better. The people around you motivate you to be better, if you hang out with people who have done what you are trying to do, things are made easier and you are motivated. Prov 22:29
· A person of excellence realises that they have neverarrived but realise they are always on a journey. It doesn't matter if you areat the highest point of your career; you are still on a journey.
· An excellent person is in competition to beatothers but to be the best they can be. Excellent athletes run to beat their best time and not the other athletes, in a quest to beat your best time you may find that you win against others but being the best you can be is more important.

2Cor 3:2-13

There was a glory on the Old Testament, butthe glory of the New Testament was greater. Even though the old testament was excellent, things progressed into the new testament because a better system was in place. if there was no progression, there need be no separation. The Old Testament had to pass away for thebetter things in the New Testament to manifest. The Israelites were still stuckon the old ways of the law when Christ had brought about a better way.To be excellent we have to adapt new systems that bring about excellence.

Key Ingredients for Excellence
Focus.

Do not focus on results, but focus on change. Change brings aboutresults.
Keep your eyes single and focus on one thing. Anything else in the way isa distraction and deters you from seeing what your focus should be.
The sharper your focus is the sharper you are.
To be focused you need priorities and concentration. Your priorities helpyou set your focus and concentration on your priorities keeps you focused. If youlack concentration but have priorities, you will never attain your priorities.

The Israelites focused too much on Moses and the law they cannot see thebetter way God has set before them. We are too focused on our old ways andpractices we miss things.
Phil 3:1-13
In our quest to be excellent let us emulate Paul. Paul was a smart, multitalented guy. He was the best lawyer and used it in the persecution of the peopleof God. He was well learned and was raised to be a religious Jew; born into thetribe of Benjamin, He was circumcised, he was a Pharisee and believed so muchin the law (the old way) that he sentenced all those that believed in Jesus Christ(the new way). He became excellent when he counted all this for loss to focuson Christ. He forgot everything that He was involved in and His many talents tobe focused on Christ.
We also should be like Paul, count for loss your old way of life becauseChrist is the only way to perfection. Focus on Him, you can survive on Him not on your manytalent or brain and in your focus on Him you will do everything to be the best of your ability.

Inthe pursuit of excellence, focus on Jesus Christ.
