I was privileged to join one of the
links fellowships this Wednesday; we started with “Therefore, if you are
offering a gift at the altar and remember that your brother has something
against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be
reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” [Matthew 5.48]
After lengthy discussion we all came to
the realisation that we can get so caught up in serving and worshipping God
that we actually don’t do what He asks us do. It was pointed out
that there is nothing God asks us to do that He had not done Himself; Adam and
Eve sinned against God yet He sent his only begotten Son in order to reconcile
us back to Him.
“The opposite of love
is not hate, it’s indifference…” - Elie Wiesel
The major thing I learnt was how
selfish I have been when it comes to sharing Christ. Most
times I go out I have my music in my ears I am in my own world ‘worshipping’
God, however God is looking down at many lost souls and His heart bleeds.
Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with
all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This
is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love
your neighbour as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these
two commandments.” [Matthew 22: 37 -40]
If we truly love our neighbours as we
love ourselves why do we not share the great things we learn and experience in
Christ with them? We need to stop being indifferent today and let
the Holy Spirit guide us to share Christ as we should.
