After yesterday's preparation the team woke up ready for the Pastors workshop today. The girls set up the hall and got ready to host pastors from different churches in Meru.
The pastors arrived and our very own Pastor P started the program. He began by sharing C3's vision and mission statement which are inspired from [Mark 16:15] and [2 Tim 2:2].
Before starting on who a leader should be he shared a quote by Jerry Robins...
"If you are going to make a change you are going to have to operate from a new belief that says life happens not to me but for me..."
Osase then led an activity in which every body had to write down traits about themselves, or characteristics about themselves.
Pastor P then continued the program and talked about the different kinds of leader that are avaliable. He also mentioned the four imperative question leaders and everyone should ask themselves before doing anything- What? Why? How? and When? these really help to set the vision right. Many other topics where covered before a snack break where the girls got a chance to practice their newly learnt Meru hospitality skills.
The session then continued with Pastor P, it was so inspiring to see many Pastor actively engage in the session. Communicating freely and very ready to learn. Other topics such as the five "P's" for planning (Purpose, People, Program, Priorities, Provision), Imperative programs a church must have to be well rounded and balanced, Seven Habits of effective people and many more.
Osase introducing part two of the activity where people now assigned names to a list of traits |
Osase introduced the final part of her activity where the traits people put down for themselves was compared with what most people thought about them. Which was followed by open discussions and Pastor P rounded up.
The group at the end of the program |
" Today was really great. I was so amazed to the the willingness to learn of the leaders from their various churches their commitment levels to the work of God is quite inspiring. I really thank God for the new seeds that have been sown in their lives and I pray that they germinate and bring forth wonderful fruits towards God's Kingdom. The self evaluation activity from today really had people thinking about who they are and who people saw them to be... So we are trying not to sleep so that we can leave at 2AM to pick Mario and Suzy up at Nairobi tommorow I can't wait for them to join the team, wonder what they are like? We really enjoyed playing Whot school tonight, Uba did this major check out after all hope was lost... Fiona well we hope she will learn the tricks of the game faster... "
See you Later, Love and Blessings from
I-Go 2013
