Day 9: Mario and Suzy join the team

Today started around 2am and it was time to make that long drive to Nairobi again to pick up the final additions the team:  Mario and Suzy. After meeting them at the airport we stayed in Nairobi for a bit for the now traditional first meal before heading to Meru; of course we advised them not to try the local porridge.

So we started heading back on the four hour long drive to Meru, and we could all tell Suzy was very tired

On the way we made a quick stop at Mr Mugende's house and met his daughter

Then we headed back again on the road...

It was not long again before Suzy needed a rest break...

So we stopped at a filling station

Back on the road again

A cloverleaf missionary filling in their journal

Now Mario was feeling tired

Eventually we arrived at Meru

We found some Cloverleaf at the centre

We had lunch together and spend the rest of the day integrating Mario and Suzy, while work and preparation for the table banking training workshop began
We went for a swim later all expect Pastor P.
The following was extracted from the one of the diaries of a cloverleaf missionary...
"Today was so FUN, we were all so exicted to meet Mario and Suzy... they fit in so well with the group its like we have known each other before hand. We have nicknamed Suzy- Lucy and Mario had re-nicknamed Uba- Uba kuruba. I remember when we were looking for them at the airport we were playing guess the couple and well we didn't do well until we saw Mario's guitar. On our way to the restaurant at Nairobi we found what we thought was a restaurant but unknowingly to us it was a day club. When we finally found a restaurant the girls experienced using a latrine for the first time in Kenya, we visited Mr Mugende's home quickly before we went back to base at the community centre. So Mario likes to make everyone aware that he is Colombian for reasons unknown but its rather funny. Before bible study we went swimming and well Mario, Suzy and Osase could swim, Uba got the hang of it in the end, Tope tried so hard and Fiona well we all agreed she is a better singer. I-Go voices wrote another song today before Mario joined in with his guitar. Can't wait for Mario and Suzy to have their first Sunday in Kenya... wonder if it will be like last Sunday??? "
See you later, Love and Blessings from
