I AM

                Too many people have unanswered questions; too many people are busy pointing out the problem rather than finding the solution.

Can you hear Him???



Someone once said that God is willing to speak to us more than we are willing to listen. Sometimes when we don’t hear what we want to hear from God we doubt whether we are able to hear from Him.  

[John 10:3-4] “The gatekeeper opens the gate for Him, and the sheep listen to His voice. He calls His own sheep by name and leads them out… and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice”

  Unless a sheep is lost it is rare that you would find it away from its pen or away from the shepherd’s care.  A sheep follows the shepherd as he directs; it doesn't decide that the direction the shepherd is headed doesn't look promising and find its own way.  

[John 11:43-44] “… Jesus called out in a loud voice, ‘Lazarus, come out’. The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen and a cloth around his face Jesus said to them, "Take off the grave clothes and let him go.”

  Christ called Lazarus out of the grave where he had laid for four days; He doesn't enter the grave to partake in death with Lazarus. We cannot remain in death (sin) and expect to experience Christ as we ought to. 

   “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade…” [1 Peter 1:3-4] All that we will need is in the resurrection of Christ so whilst Christ will not partake in death with us, even in the grave He calls out to us and like Lazarus we will still hear Him. When we come out and we are bound He places a support system of people around us that will "Take off our grave clothes”

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me”
 [Galatians 2:20]

      Today by faith and the knowledge of the resurrection of Christ get to know God's voice listen to Him; when He speaks be quick to obey Him [Psalm 119:60].  Even Death cannot stop you from hearing His voice today be like the sheep and follow Him regardless.

C3 Hits Leeds University and Leeds Metropolitan Freshers...




                Another academic university year begins and C3 welcomed new and returning students at the University of  Leeds and Leeds Metropolitan University.






          

We went not only with delicious baked and packed goodies we went to share God to our city 














With smiles, enthusiasm and energy...







As Freshers week comes to a close we are sure you have had a great time. We are very glad to have bumped into you this week and we pray that your expectation of Leeds will be met and exceeded during your time here. We understand that moving to a new city or starting university can be  very daring and lonely, and we are here to make your experience easier. We hope to help you settle in and make new friends while you get to experience Christ in an amazing way. 

To start this we will like invite you Bowling tonight at Cardigan Fields, Kirkstall Road, Come with £10 and your student cards. We meet up Parkinsons step at 6pm. It will be lovely to see you there for more information contact 07760355225.

Wait till I cross the finish line...


[Ecclesiastes 7:8] “The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride”

             Anyone is capable of starting something but not everyone is capable of finishing what they have started. Many can start to climb Mount Everest today but only the ones who have trained hard, who are diligent and who persevere will reach the top.  

            When it comes to our walk with Christ, how we end is more important than how we start.  [Matthew 25:1-13] records the parable of the ten virgins, five of which were wise and five of which were foolish. The foolish ones were ill prepared and although started at the same place with the wise ones (An oil filled lamp) they did not end in the same place as them.  Christ was not concerned that they had oil to begin with, or that they went out to buy oil upon His arrival at the end He said to them “…I tell you the truth, I don’t Know you” [Matthew 25:13]  

            Today we are still in the process, still in the race to the end. Each day we are given the opportunity to grow and learn many things. We may not get everything right now and we may fall many times, but we must remember everything we go through is a learning curve that will aid us to reach the end. 

            Therefore “Be strong and be courageous. Do not be afraid for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you." [Deuteronomy 31:6] He also promises “... surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” [Matthew 28:20]           

 [1 Corinthians 9:24-27] "Do you not know that in a race all runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.Therefore I do not run like a man running aimlessly; I do not fight like a man beating the air. No, I beat my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.” 

  So today you might see me and I am not on top of my game, don’t write me off I have not crossed the finish line yet; I am in the race running in such a way that I will get the prize.

My thoughts and My words...


           
An average spider takes about one hour to construct a small web; the web can be destroyed in less than a second.

[James 3:5] “Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself on fire by hell.

Good works are a lot easier to destroy than they are to build. We have all heard of the famous quote:
"Be careful of your thoughts, for your thoughts become your words.
Be careful of your words, for your words become your actions.
Be careful of your actions, for your actions become your habits.
Be careful of your habits, for your habits
 become your character.
Be careful of your character, for your character becomes your destiny."

[Proverbs 23:7] “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...”
            “…Then Peter got down out of the boat walked on water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”  [Matthew 14:29-30]
            It is inevitable that when we take our eyes off Jesus, we stop thinking about Him and we set out to fail.  

            All that we do is generated from a thought. It is vital that we take more caution to our thoughts and our words; we are shaped through them.  Refuse to see anything  in your life that does not concern God they are mere distractions: focus your life on the most High.

           “He who guards his lips guards his life but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin” [Proverbs 13:3]  “Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things.”[Philippians 4:8]
“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen” [Ephesians 4:29]

[Isaiah 64:8] “Yet, O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”  Let the entirety of you be moulded by Him, think and speak as you ought to.

Lest We have forgotten...



I was privileged to join one of the links fellowships this Wednesday; we started with “Therefore, if you are offering a gift at the altar and remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.” [Matthew 5.48]  

After lengthy discussion we all came to the realisation that we can get so caught up in serving and worshipping God that we actually don’t do what He asks us do.  It was pointed out that there is nothing God asks us to do that He had not done Himself; Adam and Eve sinned against God yet He sent his only begotten Son in order to reconcile us back to Him.  

“The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference…” - Elie Wiesel

The major thing I learnt was how selfish I have been when it comes to sharing Christ. Most times I go out I have my music in my ears I am in my own world ‘worshipping’ God, however God is looking down at many lost souls and His heart bleeds.  

 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” [Matthew 22: 37 -40]

If we truly love our neighbours as we love ourselves why do we not share the great things we learn and experience in Christ with them?  We need to stop being indifferent today and let the Holy Spirit guide us to share Christ as we should.

The Light In Me


I was in my room the other night and there was a full moon. I was on my phone and the light from my phone was bright so it lit up the room, my phone’s battery ran out and the light it earlier radiated was gone this was the moment I fully realised how bright the moon was.  
Many times in our lives we are “lit up” by various things: success in our work/academics, family and friends, relationships… These things however only give us temporal happiness in the sense that we are saddened when we lack them, when they are not sufficient or they are not as we expected.
[John 8:12] “When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’”

“Darkness is in fact simply the absence of light” – Albert Einstein

Christ is the only eternal light.  We cannot follow Him if we do not see Him when other “lights” in our lives distract us.  The absence of His light in us simply means we are in darkness.
[John 14:6] “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me’”
            In essence we must “turn off” the other “lights” in our lives to make sure that we are following Christ this is the only way we can appreciate Him in all His fullness and glory. I do not write this to say we rid ourselves of the things that make us happy. No Christ placed many things around us to make us happy but we must allow Him to shine brightly in us.

[1 Corinthians 2:9] “However, as it is written: ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him’” There is too much to learn and gain when we live under His guidance-His light we must not let anything “outshine” Him in our lives at the end it will all run out. NOTHING comes close in comparison with Christ’s light; He must be the light in you.

A GREAT MOMENT!



"Behold, O Lord; for I am in distress - Lamentations 1:20

The needs you face are not there to hide the face of God. Those needs and problems exist for a special reason: for God to meet them, and through them for you to meet God.

It is at a point of need that Jesus comes to us and wakens out interest in the life He brings. It is a great moment when you become aware of your need and of Christ being the answer to that need.

For it is through that need that you begin to comprehend God and accept Him as Lord. Having Jesus, you discover that He is indeed the way for every need to be met.

Oh what needless pain we bear! Jesus is there to carry it all for you - He's there to solve every need and more...

It is the little things in life that makes the difference...

[James 3:3-5] “We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth …In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches but a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire.”
            “Little things achieved are better than big things planned” this statement is not to disregard planning for the future but rather to emphasise the necessity of time management in the present.  
            It is important to address the simpler tasks we get in life quickly so that we can see the bigger picture better. Someone once told me an analogy of when there is a little bee in a big room; until the bee is dealt with (hopefully in the most humane way possible) it is hard for one to concentrate.
            Jesus is the pinnacle of our lives, whatever we do out of Him we do in vain. He leads and guides us in all we do. “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one we already have- Jesus Christ.” [1 Corinthians 3:11].
            Going back to James 3, if we liken our lives to the large horse, and Christ as the bit it shows us to scale how struggle free our lives should be. His Word-the light-the bit is all we need to steer our life in the right direction.
So we root ourselves in the Word consistently and diligently, we believe it and we live it. We make sure the master is in control. However said control is not a big overwhelming force over us once again referring back to the scale of struggle free the control is from the small bit.
            The more we deal with the little things in life the more natural our walk with Christ becomes; this way we are able to fully enjoy our lives and live it to the full.

TUNE IN TO MIRACLES!


"And Elisha prayed and said, Lord I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. 
 - 2 Kings 6:17

Everybody needs a miracle from time to time. I do; you do. Or we aren't going to make it. Completely surrounded by the enemy, Elisha and his young servant had to recourse but a miracle from God.

When the servant began to panic, Elisha prayed, "Lord...open his eyes that he may see". And behold the young man saw that the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire. Angels of God...ready to bring a miracle!!

Open your mind to Jesus and tune in to miracles. This very moment there are all kinds of pictures swirling around you that you do not see. There are voices that you do not hear. Just because you can't see the pictures or hear the voices doesn't mean that they aren't there. All you need is a television or radio reciever and this world of hidden pictures and sounds opens up to you.

Jesus, the miracle-worker is all around you. Open your mind to Him and you will tune into miracles - the one you need!

This is a day of Miracles - expect one today!

SPEAK YOUR FAITH!



28th July 2012

"Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee withersoever thou goest" - Ezekiel 3:15

The children of Israel went into Cannan to possess the land under the leadership of Joshua. They faced a seemingly impossible task - one which their parents had turned their back on. But the Lord repeatedly admonished them: "Fear not...Be bold and strong! Banish fear and doubt!...Don't ever be afraid or discouraged.

We are not much different today. When trouble comes - say, for instance, you lose your job - Fear says, "How can i provide for my family?" Or, your business is in trouble, Fear says "I'll just have to take bankrupcy". The doctor finds something wrong in your body. Fear says, "It's cancer".

Fear causes you to expect the worst, to look for more bad things to happen. God knows the fear you feel in the pit of your stomach and yet Jesus said, "Be not afraid, only believe." Jesus taught us to doubt our doubts, to reject our fears, and to believe our faith.

Impossible? No...for God doesn't tell you to do something you cannot do. When you feel fear it is time to take a stand. Many times when i have reached an impasse in my life i have had to tell myself "Paul believe! Believe!" I have had to discipline my mind by demanding that it believe God regardless of the circumstances.

Faith...believing God...is a superior force over fear and it brings about miracles.

Expect a miracle today!

JESUS SAT WHERE YOU SIT

27th July 2012
"I sat where they sat" - Ezekiel 3:15

Do you ever wonder if anyone has gone through the things that you go through? Do you sometimes feel as if you are utterly alone and nobody understands or cares?

One of the most marvelous things about Christ is His infinite capacity to feel what we feel, to experience what we experience. This is because He, like the Prophet Ezekiel, has sat where we sit. He has been there, and He is there now (Hebrews 4:15,16)

God is not off somehwre in the distance...a God by proxy. He loved man so much that He sent His son Jesus to earth in the form of a human being to walk among the people with problems and needs. God, through Jesus, got down where we are. He sat amidst the hurts and problems that invade your life. So now there is no distance between you and Him, or between the needs and His power to meet them.

Christ's plan for man was twofold: He would walk through life himself, and He would come back to walk us through it. To me that is a powerful thought...knowing that Jesus is by my side helping me through situations that He has already overcome!

His name is Emmanuel - God with us. Halleluyah!

FEEL INADEQUATE?


26th July 2012

"Behold, my family is poor...and I am the least in my father's house" - Judges 6:15

Do you struggle with a sense of inadequacy? Do you feel that you just don't have sufficient resources for the job you are called to do? Gideon had this problem. The Lord called him to deliver His people from the oppression of the Midianites:

Go in this thy might, and thou shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites; have i not sent thee?

God's promises should have been enough for Gideon, but he was looking at himself and his own deficiencies. Gideon reasoned with the Lord that he was from a poor family. And being an unknown with no position, he felt he ws unqualified for such an awesome task

The Lord reassured Gideon:

Surely I will be with thee, and thou shall smite the Midianites as one man.

Just as Gideon became adequate for the task as he placed his trust in God, so God's promise that He has sent you and that He will be with you, is your divine adequacy. When you make God your source, He makes your inadequacies - whether in abilities, finances, resources, or health - more than adequate.

He is your sufficiency!

What do you know? What do you believe?



[Romans 10:11]
                “As the scripture says, ‘anyone who trusts in Him will never be put to shame’”
Many know of Christ’s power but we struggle to grasp the full power because we do not believe. It is easy to know God can do ALL things but when trails comes it becomes evident who believes and who knows.
                One story that I am reminded of that highlights the difference between knowing and believing is that of the centurion in [Matthew 8:5-13]. The centurion knows what it means to have authority, being a man in authority himself he knows the power of a word, therefore he doesn’t doubt what the word of Jesus can do.
                This challenges me because I know that “We are children, we are heirs- heirs of God and Co-heirs with Christ” [Romans 8:17] also that the Holy Spirit is my deposit of great things to come in Christ [Ephesians 1:13-14], and [Galatians 3:26] tells that we are sons through our faith in Christ Jesus.  Yet I underperform in Christ.
                Knowledge is power but believe is the key to unlock this tremendous power. Believe even covers the things you do not know: the earth is sphere yet we believe we walk on a straight road.  
[Romans 10:8]
                “…The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, the word of faith we are proclaiming”
When trials come your way proclaim the WORD. Ignore the shape or form the trails takes it is irrelevant He “…will go before thee, and make crooked places straight…” Do not ponder on the things you see but on the things that you have by faith [Isaiah 45:2]. “For we walk by faith, not by sight” [2 Corinthians 5:7].
Faith believes what Christ has already done; In essence we underperform not necessarily because we do not know but because we do not believe all that we know.

Running

With the Olympics around the corner again I think of one of my favourite events the men’s 100metres race.
I remember the day Usain Bolt set the world record for 100m, all the focus, energy and training he put in...  He started running and crossed the 100m mark in world record time!
Now I imagine if he ran in the opposite direction that day, the effort and all he puts in would have been the same; the only difference is his direction! This is how easy it is to go astray.
Not forgetting these things but for a moment forget laziness, forget distractions even forget sin! Imagine you were doing all you should be, but in the wrong direction, Maybe for the wrong reasons? Or without a pure heart? ….
The point is that if you are not running in the right direction with God it is all in vain!
[Matthew 7:22-23] “On the day of judgment many will call me their Lord. They will say, ‘We preached in your name, and in your name we forced out demons and worked many miracles.’  But I will tell them, ‘I will have nothing to do with you! Get out of my sight, you evil people!’”
Yesterday hearing thunder for the first time in a while and I was reminded of how my mum told me when I was little that when thunder strikes God is angry. So when I heard thunder strike and I would always get on my knees and pray for forgiveness.
Growing up I have come to learn that the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. I have learnt that the fear of God guides us in the right direction in our daily lives.  In all we do we must fear God so that we do not go astray.

Sessions: The Love Edition.

On monday the 13th of February we have a second edition of the Hit event Sessions. This edition is focusing of the Love of God. Love hangs in the air in the month of February so we knew that we had to mark it by celebrating the definition of Love- God.

We had a line up of amazing talent that night.  We ourselves were in awe of what Leeds had to offer. There were ministrations in the form of dance, drama, music, poetry and of course a live band.

Sticky Note...Our benefit


God has already done all that needs to be done. 
This is why our prayers do not move God or prompt a response from God, except it was already in His plan- answered prayers are those that He already destined to happen. 
Our prayers don't open doors, they lift us into the realm where we see that doors have been opened all along. 
Our praise and worship just lift us to the realm where things have already been done. 

We think we are doing for God, but it is for our own benefit.

God Alone


God is solitary in His Existence and majesty.
God is Peerless in His Perfection
God is unique in His Perfection
God sustains everything but independent of All.
God gives to all but is enriched by none.

Exodus 15:11-16
Who is like unto you oh God?
None.

God is just awesome, words cannot describe or summarise Him. This post is not enough to do Him any justice and even though it is intended to exalt Him, it is nothing compared to who He actually is.

We can try but we can not begin to imagine how God came about, where He came from, even who He really is   beyond our imagination. Gen 1:1- even before the world was created He was already here, since the beginning of Time He existed, even time cannot limit God, Time is subject to God and so we can not really bound Him by time.
All through time He will always remain the same, before time even came into existence He was still God and will remain God even when time expires- Hebrews 13:8. 

It is then clear that if God was God before man or creation came into existence and will remain the same as He was even before then- God does not need creation to be God and remain God.

  • Before Heaven was formed God was God, so why do we limit God to heaven?
  • Before we could worship, God was God, so why do we think that God requires our worship to be God or magnified? Neh 9:5... He is exalted above everything whether we give Him praise or not
  • Before churches or tabernacles came into existence God was still God, why do we think that going to church keeps God sweet? 
These questions could go on forever because we are so wrapped up in our selves that we forget we are in the presence of Majesty. Nothing we do improves God, even Christ said that His dying does not improve God- Psalm 16:2

So why does all things happen if God is still God regardless? For the pleasure of God, they are not necessities but pleasures to God. 
Why are we here then, or why do we have to do all we do? For our own benefit and so that we may fear God and His Majesty(Is 33:6-10,  Eccles 3:14, Psalm 19:9)

Everything we have been doing up till now is a waste if it doesn't reflect your fear for God. 
So how do we receive the fear of God? . 
  • Receive the word of God with Respect
  • Be submissive to His words
  • Be prayerful to know Him
  • Search to know Him. 
The conclusion of the matter is Fear the Lord for He is God alone.

Links fellowship is the place to be every Wednesday; we at C3 come together to have a wonderful time at our various house fellowships.
We study the word together, praise and worship God, share our testimonies and play games. We then wrap things up by having dinner together.

Sticky Note: Your Language


If you are to remain in the Kingdom of God you must speak His Language. 

We as men have 3 different languages according to our 3 different parts; mind, physical and mental


  • Our mental language is our beliefs
  • Our mind language is our thoughts
  • Our physical language is our words. 
It is very important that those three language become the same, if not there is a limitation. 

Acquaint all three languages with the language of God. You will be just fine.

The Language of God is never Suggestive, Always Compelling. 
God doesn't Beg, He beckons and it comes to pass. 
The Language of God has Power and Authority-Luke 4:36.

The language Of God


Language is a form of communication and system common to the people of a community.

Gen 11:1-9
This is the story of the Tower of Babel. The people were building a tower that they wanted to reach heaven. They spoke the same language and understood each other perfectly meaning that they were working together towards their goal. God knew that provided that they had an understanding of each other nothing could stop them and so He changed their language. They did not lose their zeal towards their goal but they lost their language and the ability to understand each other and so they had to go their separate ways.

Identity is always lost in loss of language;if  you claim to be an English man but you cannot speak English, even though you may have been born English you lose your sense of belonging when you don't understand the language or systems of England.

We as man were made to belong to God(of His kingdom), to have an identity in God and so a person of God understands His language and systems. But since the beginning, man started losing their identity when they chose to start following systems that were not of God.
These days people hardly speak the language of  God but speak and conform to the language of this world and the same way God was committed to breaking the language the people of Babel were speaking, He is still committed to breaking the foreign languages we have adopted.

His commitment follows through when He sends messages to the world to keep us on track, when He sent His son Jesus Christ into the world to save us from the ways of the world and when He left the Holy spirit for us.

 We regain our identity in the kingdom of God when we allow Jesus to be born in us by accepting Him as our lord and saviour and also allowing the Holy spirit to live in us( John 20:22)

After we have accepted Jesus and received the Holy spirit that He left unto us, we are now saved to be representatives of His Kingdom, however we have to be able to change our language to His that we may fully represent this kingdom.
Luke 24:49- The disciples where compelled to wait for the Language of the spirit of God before they could go out and represent the kingdom of God, and then on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2) their language changed.
With a change of language comes a reception of Power(Acts 1:7-12), because you now understand and operate under the system of the kingdom you are able to make things happen. In ordinary terms, if you become a citizen of the UK, but cannot speak English or don't understand the systems of England, you cant really make things happen without getting help.
After Peter and the disciples changed their  language, they could boldly go out and proclaim that Jesus is Lord(Acts 4:18-31).

It is very important that we know the Language of God so we can exercise our rights and power as citizens of His Kingdom. Even though there is room for speaking in tongues, in this case the Language of God has a lot to do with His word. Evidence of being of His Kingdom is the boldness to declare the word of God.

We have adopted too many languages we lost the Language of where we actually come from... The kingdom of God.
